    Work Rights In United Kingdom

In comparison to other nations, studying in the UK is a little more expensive. International students, on the other hand, are permitted to work part-time. As an international student in the UK, you are permitted to work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during vacation periods.

Despite recent immigration law changes affecting Tier 4 Student visas, university students are still permitted to work part-time (20 hours per week) during the school year and full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer vacation.

New students applying to higher education institutions (both public and private colleges) will not be permitted to work.

    Visa Information

If you are going to study a short-term course in the United Kingdom and are over 18 years old then you are eligible for pursuing a short-term study visa in the UK. This type of visa is applicable for up to six months and can be extended for a stay of up to 11 months for English language courses.  If you’re planning for a long-term course then you’ll need to make sure that your chosen university holds a tier 4 sponsor license. You can either apply for a Tier 4 (Child) student visa or a Tier 4 (General) student visa for those aged 16 and over.

You need to wait until you have an offer from a university or college before applying for your Tier 4 (General) student visa. Your university or college will then be able to give you a document called a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS). To do this, your chosen institution needs to be approved by the UK government as a ‘licensed Tier 4 sponsor.
